The new owners of Michaleen's are inviting the community to a Grand Reopening of the store Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Michaleen's Florist & Greenhouse has provided flowers and plants for the weddings, birthdays, proms and Valentine's days of generations of Ithaca-area residents over nearly four decades.
"We've been working hard on transforming the greenhouse and want to share that with the shop's loyal customers, and with new friends as well," Cary Coryell, shop co-owner
Cary Coryell had been working as a floral designer at Michaleen's under the tutelage of Mickey Herzog, the shop's founder, and longtime shop manager Jason Baker. Cary and her partner Luca T. Romano purchased the shop in February from Mickey, who was ready to turn it over to another generation and spend more time with her children and grandchild.
"It's very clear that Mickey and the shop are beloved in this community and we felt we understood what she's built and could continue it, as well as expand upon it -- with more exciting changes to come," Luca T. Romano, shop co-owner
The reopening will feature a large selection of new plants and pottery, as well as curated gifts (great for Mother's Day!), door prizes, giveaways and local food trucks Great Start Coffee Cart and Jean's Soul Food Spot.
